What You Should Know Before Getting Permanent Eyeliner

By Jennifer Nelson

Some people can spend hours in front of the mirror applying their makeup to get the perfect look. Others are too lazy to do the makeup even for ten minutes. Either way, you need to feel comfortable and confident when you leave the house. For those who do not like spending time trying to make their eyes pretty, a solution has been found for you. You can opt to get permanent eyeliner and forget about the daily application of the same. If this is what you want, the following are some of the things you ought to know before the procedure.

To begin with, you should understand that the makeup is not entirely long-lasting. This is because the industry uses the term lasting eyeliner to describe the process. However, the makeup is considered to be long-term because the pigment usually remains in your skin forever. Nonetheless, the visibility and longevity of the color eventually fades. This kind of makeup is sometimes referred to as tattooed makeup because experts use a process similar to body tattooing.

This procedure is okay for all people, but those who suffer from acne should be extra cautious especially if they are using Accutane. Thus, these people should take their time and review the procedure, the entire technique, types of cosmetic inks and preparation steps. Also, people who are using some medications such as aspirin should quit the drugs before the procedure to prevent and minimize bleeding.

In case you have applied lash extensions, you should make sure that you have removed them a week to the tattooing. This is because removing the extensions too close to the makeup application may affect the entire procedure. The glue used to apply the lash extensions may remain on your lash line thus interfering with the ink. The lashes can be reapplied after the procedure.

Also, if you wear contact lenses, you have to remove them too before the procedure. Also, be prepared to stay without the contact lens a few days after the process. After the cosmetic ink application, your eyes may be tender or a bit swollen. Therefore, it may not be too safe to wear them right after the surgery. Hence, you should wait for the tenderness to wear off.

This procedure is generally categorized into two. There is the normal or traditional one that involves a thinker lining that is applied above the lash line. The other one involves applying the ink lightly and thinly between the lash lines. The lash lines thus look darker. The second procedure looks more natural and beautiful.

The time that the procedure takes depends on the thickness that the clients want. If a client requests for the normal traditional process, the ink can be applied within one hour. However, clients who want wings and cat eyes have to be patient as the procedure takes longer.

The procedure is not painful because a numbing cream is applied to the skin before tattooing it. Clients are not supposed to feel any pain during the whole procedure. However, people have different pain tolerance. This means that the application can be quite uncomfortable for some clients and very painful to others.
